A light-fingered 'little cherub' has been caught trying to free a locked bike that wasn't his.

Video footage was taken by Debbie Thompson at Sandwich Railway Station on Thursday, May 30.

She has shared on the Deal Watch Rejects community page on Facebook hoping it will help identify him.

She said: "Caught this little cherub trying to steal a bike at Sandwich station this morning 8.30am.... I know it wasn’t his because I spoke to the lady tonight who owned it."

The video has been shared among other facebook users.

A spokesman from British Transport Police said: "We received a report of an attempted theft of a bicycle from Sandwich station at 8.18am on May 30.

"Rail staff spoke with the suspect and he subsequently left the area.

"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."
