A man and a woman were taken to hospital after a collision with a lorry on the A256 bypass near Eastry yesterday. (Monday)

The driver of the car, a male in his 50s was treated by SECAmb paramedics just after 4.30pm for a cut to his head.

He was also suffering from neck and chest pain.

The passenger of the car, a female, also in her 50s was treated at the scene for facial injuries.

Both were fully conscious but were taken to William Harvey Hospital as a priority.

Two ambulance crews and one response car were in attendance.

Kent Police was called by SECAmb at 4.35pm to the Dover-bound carriageway on Sandwich Road.

The road was closed until 6.40pm while the vehicles were recovered.

Firefighters were also in attendance with two appliances, one from Deal and another from Sandwich attending the scene after a call at 4.51pm.

Watch manager Malcolm Cowie said: “We just stood by and waited for the ambulance to arrive.”
