Police are searching for a coach driver after he crashed into a toll bridge in Sandwich this afternoon.

It happened in The Quay just after midday, with the driver believed to have fled the scene.

It is understood that some of the original stonework has been damaged and that a structural engineer has been called out.

Kent Highways has shut Ramsgate Road as a precaution.
