Vintage furniture shop Smoke on the Water is moving from Sandwich to Deal to expand its premises.
It is run by Catherine and Richard Carson-Parker who opened the shop six years ago in Market Street, Sandwich.
Now the couple want to grow their business and will be taking a larger premises at 2 Victoria Road, Deal, at the end of the month.
The Sandwich shop will close on Tuesday, October 27, with the reopening in Deal on Saturday, October 31.
Mrs Carson-Parker, 58, said: “At the moment we are using a separate workshop, so we found a property in Deal where we can do it all in-house.
“It will be more suitable and give us increased space to spread out and do everything under one roof.”
Smoke on the Water hosts furniture painting workshops to transform old furniture.
It is also a stockist of the popular Annie Sloan paint. Mrs Carson-Parker said customers come from all over east Kent for the in-demand paint.
She said: “We will be very sad to leave Sandwich as we’ve been happy here. We have had lots of lovely comments and people don’t want us to go, but said they will come and see us in Deal.”
The couple live in Ringwould so the shop in Deal will be much more convenient for them.
They have three children, James, 34, Sonia, 30, and Natasha, 27, as well as four grandchildren.
The hope for the future is that they can expand their range of stock, benefit from more space and choice, and branch out into home furnishings and fabrics.
Mrs Carson-Parker said: “It will also enable us to be more spontaneous about our workshops.”
This will mean Smoke on the Water can host workshops at shorter notice for any interested parties.
