POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to trace in connection with a robbery at an off-licence.
The raider walked into the Threshers off-licence in New Street, Sandwich, and asked the shop assistant for a packet of cigarettes.
When the assistant turned round, the man was holding what appeared to be a black handgun, and demanded the till be opened.
He grabbed some cash and left the shop with the cigarettes, walking up New Street away from the town centre.
Police are still investigating the amount stolen, but believe it could be several hundred pounds.
A spokesman for Thresher Group, said the staff member was not hurt, but was being offered help and support by a counselling team.
The spokesman added: “A dedicated security team is reviewing security arrangements at the shop and working closely with police to identify the offender and prevent further incidents occurring.”
The robber is described as white, aged 20 to 25, 5ft 2in tall, with short dark brown hair. He was wearing a short sleeved, dark red or orange polo style T-shirt. The incident happened at about 5.15pm on Thursday, May 26.
