Firefighters called to blaze in Ramsgate Road near Port Richborough in Sandwich

Firefighters battled a large blaze behind a diner.

At one point 12 fire engines were at the Embassy Truck stop on Ramsgate Road near Port Richborough in Sandwich, but by 8.30pm operations had ceased.

The blaze appeared to have come from behind The Roadhouse Diner, with black smoke billowing into the air, and crews called just before 4pm.

A spokesperson for the fire service said in their final update: “Firefighting operations have now finished at an industrial fire in Port Richborough, Ramsgate Road in Sandwich.

“Please share this information with any loved ones in the area who may be affected but do not have access to the internet.”
