A hairdresser's lockdown struggle opened the door to a new business venture.
By the time the third bout of pandemic restrictions were enforced in January this year, Anne Blaxland from Sandwich says her mental health had started to deteriorate.
Aware that keeping busy was the best remedy for her, she got to work on an exciting business plan.
It was for a new shop which would make use of space above her already established hairdressing and beauty business, The Salon in Market Street.
Eight months later, the mum of three has opened the doors of Bijou Bridal Studio, and is now helping provide unforgettable moments to future brides.
She said: "I personally loved lockdown. It was the most amazing opportunity to spend quality time with my children, aged 14, 22 and 24.
"But during the third lockdown, I didn’t do too well mentally. I have suffered with mental health before and it was rearing its ugly head.
"I decided I needed another business.
"I had a beautiful room on the first floor above my salon which I have transformed into an elegant, bijou bridal boutique."
Offering her a helping hand is bridal consultant Maxine Woolls who has built up two years' experience working in Ashford.
"Maxine is just the most incredible, passionate young lady I have ever had the privilege to work alongside," Ms Blaxland said.
The rails have been filled with more than 60 dresses by leading designers, ranging from £500 up to £3000.
The shop, which has already recieved a 5* rating on Facebook, also stocks all bridal accessories.
Mrs Blaxland added: "We have had such a phenomenal response and already had several 'yes to the dress' moments."
