A KENT postman made an unusual delivery when he reunited five baby ducklings with their mother.

Gordon May was surprised to find the ducklings stuck down a drain during his round.

Mr May, 53, of Church Street, Sandwich, said: “I saw that the mother was in distress and I could hear lots of squawking. I looked around for the missing ducklings but I could not see them.

“Eventually I saw that they had fallen down a drain in Hastings Place. I could just about reach down and help them out before returning them to their mother.

“In my 12 years on the job I have never come across anything like this before. It was certainly an unusual day at the office.”
