Twinning signs are a bad advert for Sandwich

The“terrible state” of twinning signs are a bad advertisment for Sandwich.

This was the warning from Cllr John Bragg at a meeting of the town council.

The issue was highlighted after the council received a letter from a resident complaining about the state of the signs.

Cllr Bragg said: “I agree with the letter, they are in a terrible state. It would be better to take them down than leave them looking like this.”

Cllr Jeffery Sneller agreed that they were looking “tired “ and they ought to look into replacing them.

He added that the signs play an important part in showing people that Sandwich is twinned with three different European towns, Honfleur, Ronse and Sonsbeck.

Cllr Paul Carter said the matter had come before the council before and there were concerns over what they would replace the existing signs with.

Councillors agreed to adjourn the item until the full council is available to discuss it further.
