Homeowners are being offered grants of up to £7,500 to install heat pumps to warm their homes in place of carbon-polluting gas boilers.
Sevenoaks council has formed an alliance with green tech company Thermly to make it easier for residents to make the switch.
The Sevenoaks heat pump platform will see Thermly working with installers to support the district’s 31,000 homeowners with the installation of heat pumps in their homes.
Thermly will help put in heat pumps quickly and easily and give guidance on how to access a £7,500 government grant.
Cllr Irene Roy, the council’s cabinet member for cleaner and greener, said: “The council has made a commitment to help our communities cut their carbon footprint.
“We are passionate about promoting energy-efficient upgrades to create a greener, more sustainable district and working in association with Thermly, we can speed up the adoption of environmentally friendly heat pumps that can dramatically cut a household’s carbon emissions.”
Gareth Robertson, one of the founders of Thermly, said: “We are on a mission.
“This locally driven initiative, in association with Sevenoaks council, is a great example of another green-minded community being as keen as us to future-proof homes and move us all towards more sustainable energy choices.”
