A busy section of road was shut in both directions following an accident.

Traffic was stopped on the A21 Sevenoaks bypass from A225 (Hildenborough/ Sevenoaks) to M25 (Westerham / Sevenoaks) and drivers were advised to find alternative routes.

The incident happened at around 4pm.

KCC Highways said at 4.30pm that an air ambulance had landed at the scene.

They added: “Emergency services remain in attendance, please use alternate routes where possible and expect delays in the area.”

The road re-opened at around 6.20pm but there are still long delays.

Drivers have reported being stuck on the carriageway for over two hours.
