Knockholt Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular: Estimated 2,000 people attend

An estimated 2,000 people attended a bonfire and fireworks spectacular at the weekend.

Organised by the Knockholt Carnival Charities Committee, Saturday's event included an 18-minute display with roman candles, bangers, and Catherine Wheels.

There was also a 20 foot high bonfire, topped with a guy made by children from St Katharine's Primary School.

Justine Miller, spokesman for the committee, said: "Our fireworks bring the local community together.

"The committee is so grateful to our volunteers, the local family which lends us the field each year, Coolings Green and Pleasant who provide car parking facilities, and the local shops and pubs that sell tickets for us.

"We couldn't pull off such a fantastic event each year without their support."

Money from the event goes to help charities including West Kent Mind and a Kent-based refuge for women and children escaping domestic violence.
