A MOTORCYCLIST from Sevenoaks died in a head-on collision with a car on the A21 between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells last night.
The accident happened shortly before 6.40pm and resulted in the road being closed between Vauxhall Lane, Tonbridge, and North Farm roundabout, Tunbridge Wells, for more than four hours.
A blue Suzuki motorcycle, travelling south, and a blue Kia Rio car, heading north, were in collision on the notorious single-carriageway Castle Hill section of the London to Hastings trunk road.
The motorcyclist was killed, and the driver and a passenger from the Kia were taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Tunbridge Wells, suffering from shock.
PC Dave Keogh, of West Kent police, is appealing for help in establishing the cause of the collision.
He said: "I would ask anyone who saw either the car or the motorbike, or who witnessed the incident, to contact us.
"I would particularly like to hear from the driver of a blue Honda car travelling south who stopped to help at the scene, and two motorcyclists who were travelling north at the time of the incident."
PC Keogh can be contacted at Tunbridge Wells police station on 01892 511055.
Police have confirmed that the motorcyclist who died came from Sevenoaks, but no further details have been released. The coroner has been informed.
