A burglar who stole jewellery and a car from a Sevenoaks home before being caught driving it in London has been jailed.

Freddie Webb, 30, targeted a home in Uplands Way in September.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court.

On the morning of Friday, September 11 Kent Police received a report that an address in Sevenoaks had been burgled.

When officers attended they found a window next to the front door had been forced open and all of the bedrooms, as well as the loft, had been searched.

The victims had hidden jewellery and a spare set of car keys in a box which was kept in the attic, but this was discovered by Webb.

Webb, formerly of Shakespeare Road in Worthing, then stole the victim’s Audi.

Cameras spotted him driving it in stationary traffic in London the next day.

He was arrested and the stolen property was found in the boot of the car.

He was jailed for four years for the burglary and 42 months imprisonment for the theft of the car. This will be served concurrently.

Webb was also guilty of a separate burglary investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police.

He was sentenced to three and a half for this which will also be served concurrently to his four year sentence.

He received an additional three months, to be served consecutively, for impersonating a police officer.

Sgt Garry Cook said: "Freddie Webb has needlessly placed a great deal of stress and worry on his victims and I would like to thank them for their support in securing this conviction.

"His actions were entirely selfish and I hope he uses his time in prison to reflect upon the impact his behaviour has had on his victims."
