Burglars raid cigarettes from newsagent in Riverhead near Sevenoaks

Burglars smashed through a newsagent's door and made off with cigarettes triggering the alarm in an early morning raid.

The break-in happened in London Road, Riverhead, near Sevenoaks at around 2.20am today.

A duo were seen fleeing in a car towards Aisher Way after the shop's alarm system triggered, police said.

"Two men were seen leaving the area by car, in the direction of Aisher Way. One man was reportedly wearing a grey hooded tracksuit, white trainers and yellow gloves," a spokesman explained.

"The other was seen wearing shorts, gloves and a blue hooded top with the number three on the sleeve."

Officers attended the scene, where the front door had been smashed and cigarettes were reported stolen.

Detectives would like to talk to any witnesses who have not already come forward.
