Pupils have been forced to self-isolate after a positive case of Covid-19 hit a primary school.

Some of the children at Edenbridge Primary in High Street, Edenbridge, will have to remain at home until next Monday after being in contact with the virus last week.

It comes after a person at the school, thought to be a pupil in Year 2, tested positive for coronavirus.

Head teacher Clare Butcher revealed the school underwent a deep clean "in line with government guidelines".

She said: "We can confirm that an individual has tested positive for Covid-19 at Edenbridge Primary School.

"The school has liaised with Public Health England and identified all close contacts of the individual who have been asked to isolate for 14 days from last point of contact, and have been advised to book a test if they begin to show symptoms of the virus themselves.

"Home education commenced immediately for the children who are now isolating. We look forward to welcoming them back to school once the isolation period is complete."

It comes on the same day a year group at Invicta Valley Primary School in Teapot Lane, Aylesford, was told to isolate until next week after a Year 6 pupil tested positive for Covid-19.
