Bungling raiders attacked an Edenbridge supermarket with sledgehammers in a bid to steal a cash machine.

A brick wall at Waitrose, in Mont St Aignan Way, was damaged - but the ATM had not been removed and no money was taken.

Police arrived and a white Volkswagen Transporter van was spotted driving away from the scene, but the vehicle was lost a short time later.

Detectives have today released details of the attack, at about 11.40pm on Sunday, August 17.

DC Nick Brown said: "Although this offence happened late at night, we are hopeful somebody saw something that might aid us in our inquiries.
