Fire crews were called to an Edenbridge block of flats yesterday after a tumble dryer caught fire.

A block of flats in Wayside Drive had to be evacuated after the tumble dryer on the first floor overheated just after 9.30pm.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent to the incident with a hose reel jet.

Firefighters were called to the scene. Stock picture.

Upon investigation they found the fire was already out so ventilated the property.

The first and second floor flats were evacuated as a precaution but there are no reported injuries.
