Rail passengers in Kent faced disruption during rush-hour due to flooding on the tracks at Orpington.

The problem initially meant no services could run through the station as a result.

But Southeastern later said trains were on the move "but at a significantly reduced speed".

The firm said: "We're working with Network Rail to get you on the move ASAP."

Trains were halted at around 4.50pm and resumed just before 6pm.

Services to Hastings/Ashford are now diverting around the area via Sevenoaks.

Southeastern allowed passengers to use their ticket on London buses between Lewisham and Orpington at no extra cost.

Flooding also reduced access to Petts Wood Station, on the Queensway side.

It comes after a warning of power cuts as more rain and flooding across Kent issued by the Met Office.
