Residents in several streets had to be evacuated after a suspected unexploded bomb was found.

Households in Dunton Green, near Sevenoaks, were alerted to the discovery yesterday afternoon.

A bomb squad was called in

Families in Milton Road and Pounsley Road were evacuated alongside those in Darenth Lane, where the suspect device was found.

The Miners Arms pub was also closed with punters being asked to evacuate while police and bomb disposal experts descended on the scene.

However, when the device was inspected, it was found to not be an unexploded bomb (UXB) or any other live device.

It was soon removed from the road and residents were allowed back into their homes.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 3.09pm yesterday following reports of that a unexploded bomb had been found in Darenth Lane, Sevenoaks.

"The EOD team attended and established it was not a UXB.

"A small number of residents were asked to leave their houses for a short time while the device was examined."
