Southern Rail: Traveller leaves floral bouquet 'in memory' of train firm hit by strikes

A commuter has left their own "tribute" to Southern Rail - the train firm which has been badly hit for months by strike action.

A basket of flowers was left at Edenbridge train station, with the words "in memory of Southern Rail. Sadly missed"

The card, next to cyclamen in a white basket, also had two sad faces and tears.

It comes on the day Southern Rail was voted the worst train firm in the country for customer satisfaction.

The annual Which? survey found Southern had a dismal customer score of just 21%.

Thousands of rail passengers have endured the consequences of the long-lasting industrial action by RMT and ASLEF over changes to the role of guards on new trains.

More strike days are scheduled for next week and there appears to be little optimism of any breakthrough in efforts to resolve the dispute.
