A free dementia awareness event is being held to help educate more people about the illness.

Those wishing to find out about the effects and causes of dementia are being invited to attend the talk which will be held in Swanley.

It has been organised in line with the Council's ongoing work to try and make the district a more 'dementia friendly' place to live.

The drop in centres will be providing support and services. Stock picture.

Sevenoaks District Council have arranged for experts to be on hand to provide detailed and thorough answers to any concerns or questions the public may have.

Cllr Michelle Lowe, portfolio holder for housing and community safety said: “Dementia is a difficult condition to deal with, not only for those suffering from it but for loved ones to understand.

"This free event will help give people the knowledge they may lack in order to help them feel more confident in how to prepare and plan for the future.”

Anyone wishing to attend the event in St Mary's Road is welcome between 11am and 2pm.

To book a place call 01732 227000.
