A life-saving piece of equipment has been stolen from a train station.

British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after the defibrillator was swiped from Otford station.

The medical kit, donated by a local charity, was taken on Friday, November 28, but details have only just been released.

Detective Sergeant Leigh Marshall, leading the investigation, said: "At approximately 11.30pm, three men entered Otford station and made their way onto the London-bound platform.

"We believe one of the men then removed the defibrillator from its housing on the platform wall.

"It takes a certain type of criminal to steal such an item and take a potential lifeline away from the local community..." - DS Leigh Marshall

"A short time later, all three are believed to have boarded a London Victoria-bound train via Swanley and Bromley South.

"Defibrillators are placed in public places so they can be easily accessed if needed to try to save the life of someone who is gravely ill.

"It takes a certain type of criminal to steal such an item and take a potential lifeline away from the local community."

DS Marshall added: "Who is this man? I want to speak to him as a matter of urgency, as I think he might have important information about what happened that night.

"If you recognise him or were at Otford station on Friday, 28 November, please get in touch with BTP.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered this item for sale."
