Drivers faced long delays on the M25 after a crash between two cars and a lorry.

Traffic was stopped on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 5 for the M26 and Sevenoaks, and Junction 6 for Godstone for several hours following the collision at about 3am.

All emergency services were called to the scene and a full road closure was put in place.

Traffic caught in the closure was then released but the road did not reopen until just before 7.30am as the scene was being cleared.

It took until 9am for the delays to clear and traffic to return to normal.

At one point, congestion backed up to Junction 3 for the M20 and Swanley Interchange and down the A21 link to the A25 at Sevenoaks.

Traffic was also queuing for three miles down the M20 diverting from the M26.
