Rae Stephenson charged with shoplifting after incidents in Sevenoaks and Tonbridge

A man has been charged with six counts of shoplifting from various establishments in west Kent.

40-year-old Rae Stephenson stole goods during a spate of burglaries between November and December.

He was sentenced on April 9 at Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to the offences.

The man, of Station Road, Edenbridge, began the thefts on November 19, when he stole meat worth £20 from a supermarket in St John’s Hill, Sevenoaks.

On December 4 he went on to steal a candle from a shop in High Street, Tonbridge, said to be worth £19.95.

The following two days, on December 5 and 6, Stephenson stole DVDs worth £99.90 and meat worth £12 from the same supermarket in St John’s Hill, Sevenoaks.

His final two burglaries came on December 10 and 12 at a store in Carlton Parade, Sevenoaks, where he stole cough medicine, washing detergent and alcohol to the total sum of £55.82.

Magistrates sentenced Stephenson to 28 days in prison for the offences.
