The veteran TV star, who lives in Aldington, has been spotted filming all over the county in the last few months.

This includes the Kent and Sussex Railway in Tenterden, and a seal safari in Dover.

As part of the debut episode, Paul visited the Hop Gardens at Castle Farm in Sevenoaks.

The 65-year-old tried out the age-old tradition of Hop picking at the farm, which is also famous for its stunning lavender fields.

To pick the hops, which provide flavour and smell for beer, Paul had to be pulled along by a tractor, while standing on a ladder to cut the plants down with a knife.

Mr O'Grady made headlines earlier this year after it was revealed he was set to build a new dance studio in his home near Ashford.

The TV favourite, 65, will erect the building on the grounds of his house in Aldington near Ashford for his ballet star husband Andre Portasio, 40.

Featuring an 8ft fitted mirror, kitchenette and sound system, the studio will have a green sedum roof which architects say will help it blend in with its surroundings and encourage biodiversity.

The scheme – which also includes a separate groundskeeper's outbuilding – was approved yesterday after a planning application was submitted to Ashford Borough Council (ABC) in May.

Paul O'Grady's Great British Escape will be airing on ITV at 8pm every Wednesday. To watch this week's episode click here.
