Person dies after being hit by train at Dunton Green, disruption between Sevenoaks and Orpington

A person has died after being hit by a train this afternoon.

Southeastern had to shut off power to the track between Sevenoaks and Orpington as emergency services descended on Dunton Green station to deal with the incident.

Officers are trying to identify the deceased and find their family.

Southeastern is organising replacement buses after a person was hit by a train between Sevenoaks and Orpington

British Transport Police was called just before 1.30pm today.

Southeastern switched off power and trains were halted.

All lines have now reopened.

Trains may be cancelled, revised or delayed until 5.30pm.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Shortly before 1.30pm today officers from British Transport Police were called to Dunton Green station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however a person had sadly been pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
