Police are appealing for information after an elderly man reported having money stolen from his home by a bogus caller.

The 89-year-old victim opened his door to a man who claimed to be a new neighbour and who was carrying out repairs to a fence bordering their properties.

He was shown through to the back garden and then asked the victim to wait while he went back to his own side of the fence to pass some panels over the top.
