A new £8 million luxury retreat and health spa is set to open its doors tomorrow.
The Reynolds Retreat, set in 16 acres of parkland grounds at historic Basted House in Borough Green, welcomed visitors to tours over the summer but is now preparing to open fully.
The new health club is the vision of former Kent ballet dancer Emma Reynolds and husband Jason who have successfully run health clubs, spas and dance academies in the county for 20 years.
The couple fell in love with the Victorian country house and grounds, which they have transformed to offer an impressive 25,000sqft of latest luxurious fitness, thermal spa and treatment facilities.
The house, approached by a sweeping tree-line driveway, was once affiliated to Basted Mill and part of the region’s strong paper-making heritage.
Today it has been carefully restored as part of Emma and Jason’s own brand of health spas and members’ gymnasiums which prides itself on attention to detail and a mission to deliver an environment in which to improve health and fitness.
The opening comes a month after the company was named Large Business of the Year at the KEiBAs.
Emma, who lives in Borden, Sittingbourne, said: "We are always looking to expand and I wanted a site that was big enough for training as well as a fitness spa, I just fell in love with Basted House."
Reynolds works with careers centres and schools across the county providing training from basic level up to degree standard.
Emma added: "We offer a full range of courses and apprenticeships ranging from horticulture, to culinary training and business. We want the opportunities to be inspiring for people.
"The most important thing for us at Reynolds is passion, so those who train with us and show commitment and love for what they do have the opportunity to continue in employment with us once their course is completed."
“We feel we have created a club which has broad appeal, whether we receive a member who wants to gain more vitality, kick-start a healthy weight loss programme or simply relax" - Emma Reynolds
The retreat includes a state of the art gymnasium, including a cardio-vascular room with a virtual active system, where members can work out with a virtual experience such as cycling in the Rockies or running in Nevada.
It also provides members the use of a dedicated spinning room, as well as a range of classes such as Body Balance, Bokwa, Pilates and Yoga.
The spa features a chlorine free infinity pool with views over the park-like grounds, a monsoon shower room, to give a warm tropical rain experience, and an invigorating Scandinavian-style ice fountain.
Emma said: “We feel we have created a club which has broad appeal, whether we receive a member who wants to gain more vitality, kick-start a healthy weight loss programme or simply relax.
"We also want to cater for people who may have an ultimate endurance and fitness goal such as completing a triathalon."
