A road has been closed in both directions after a collision involving a police vehicle.

Just after 1.30pm a Toyota Avensis and a police car collided on the B2042 in Four Elms.

A spokesman said the force vehicle was on its way to an emergency call.

Traffic on Ide Hill Road has been completely stopped at the Pootings Road junction after the incident .

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision to contact the Serious Collision Unit on 01622 798538.

The road is expected to re-open between 5.30pm and 6pm.

The Highways Agency is advising motorists to allow extra time for their journeys.
