Drivers are facing delays due to a serious crash which has closed part of the M25.
A crane and road sweeper collided on the anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 5 for the M26 and Junction 4 for Orpington.
The road was closed at around 5.30am and traffic was also held on the clockwise carriageway so the air ambulance could land.
Four fire crews attended and one person was cut from the wreckage and passed into the care of paramedics.
The clockwise carriageway has now been reopened but hefty delays remain.
It was initially thought a second crash had occurred on the opposite side of the road but that is not the case.
The anticlockwise carriageway remains shut and a diversion is in place via the A21, A25 and the A224 through Sevenoaks and Badgers Mount.
There remains heavy levels of traffic on all approaches back towards Chipstead.
This is immediately west of junction 4 and meets the end of the official diversion route away from the M25 closure, preventing traffic from heading towards Green Street Green.
Police have been contacted for more details.
