In Sevenoaks, a 1930s vintage nightclub is beginning to gain a reputation for a memorable night out.

The Coco Club is aiming to bring to life the golden age of British Dance Band music of the 1920 and 30s.

Ian Bayley, Neil Barber and Iain Dawson began the event over a year ago and the Club has since opened its doors for three evenings.

The ethos behind the club is to try and reproduce something with the atmosphere of a club seen in a Fred Astaire – Ginger Rogers film, or perhaps one of the high-class venues where the Dance Bands actually played.

The format of the night rotates around Empire Radio playing original recordings of such famous bands as Jack Hylton, Carroll Gibbons, Roy Fox and Lew Stone.

This is interspersed with three live performances from a guest band playing exclusively 1930s music.

The night aims to integrate people of all age groups and the level of dancing is varied and is held at the Stag Community Arts Centre.

Guests are encouraged to dress to impress.
