A man who was involved in a crash with a cement lorry which killed one of his colleagues has a "long road to recovery".

Alice Clark, from Newington, died after a horror crash on the A21 Sevenoaks bypass last Wednesday, which also saw a male paramedic taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The unnamed emergency worker is still in hospital in a stable condition, but face a lengthy road to recover from his injuries, the South East Coast Ambulance Service have confirmed.

A student paramedic who was also injured in the crash and taken to hospital has been discharged, while the lorry driver suffered minor injuries.

A spokesman for SECAmb said: “We would like to thank everyone for their support following the tragic death of paramedic Alice Clark and for all those injured in last week's RTC.

"The messages from across the globe have been truly overwhelming.

“The male paramedic remains in hospital in a stable condition but faces a long road to recovery.

"The student paramedic was discharged from hospital last week. All those involved request their privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

Following the tragic events last week thousands of people paid their respects to Alice, 21, who had joined the service last year.

Heath Secretary Sajid Javid tweeted about the tragedy and said his thoughts were with Alice’s friends and family.

Miss Clark was a former pupil of Rainham Mark Grammar School. She left in 2018 and went to the University of Greenwich to study to become a paramedic, graduating in July 2021.

Sam Bryan, who studied with her to get her qualifications, said: “I and many others will truly truly miss Alice.

“It was a complete pleasure and privilege to study with her throughout our journey to become paramedics from university to our technical training and driving course.

“It was an honour to call Alice a friend and to spend time celebrating our success at the end of our course and throughout our stays at college going out in our group.

“Alice was one of the most amazing paramedics and kind hearted people you could ever hope to meet.”

Carl Coomber worked with Alice for three years while she was a student paramedic with the London Ambulance Service and described her death as “an absolutely tragedy”.

He said: “Alice was such a beautiful person, funny but mature. A lovely crewmate and a great paramedic.”

A fundraiser has been set up for Alice's family following the crash and has raised more than £10,000.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident, but there has been no developments yet.
