Ightham Mote's Teddy Bear Hunt proves to be big success

"We're going on a bear hunt, we're going to catch a big one"

Kids enjoyed the last days of the summer holiday with a host of cuddly pals at Ightham Mote.

Whether they brought their own or found one of the Mote's, children flocked to join in the fun last Thursday.

Staff at the National Trust attraction had hidden more than 70 teddies around the property, including some on a pirate ship sailing on the moat, and one scaling a wall to reach his beloved.

Once they had found the bears, visitors were invited to join in with a picnic that had been laid on by volunteers at the medieval manor house.

Tamsin Leigh, visitor experience manager at the Mote, said: "We were delighted to see so many teddy bears arrive with their owners for the teddy bears' picnic event on Thursday."

"They all enjoyed their time with us, had a lovely picnic, made with our wonderful volunteers' help, and the pirates behaved themselves and stayed moored in the moat!"
