West Kent Housing Association achieves 'Gold Footprint' award in RSPCA CAWF scheme

West Kent Housing Association can count itself among the leading supporters of animal welfare after achieving a ‘Gold Footprint’ award in the RSPCA Community Animal Welfare Footprints (CAWF) scheme.
Backed by the Secretary of State, for the second year running, West Kent is is one of eleven housing providers to achieve the top award in the Housing Footprint category.
The accolade recognises West Kent as exceeding basic service with a positive pet policy and a clear strategy to support responsible ownership.
It is running several schemes to improve the welfare of animals including providing micro chipping to all dogs in West Kent communities and the Gold Footprint rewards the extra effort West Kent staff make to ensure high standards of care for animals.
Lenny Rolles, senior parliamentary advisor, local government, RSPCA said: "It is pleasing to see that in spite of the tough economic climate faced by housing associations West Kent have demonstrated a commitment to animal welfare.
"The RSPCA are delighted to award the prestigious RSPCA Gold Housing Footprint to the association, in recognition of the steps that they have taken to acknowledge the important role animals can play in the lives of their residents.

Mandie Stallard, neighbourhood support officer said “We are delighted to have won the gold footprint award for the second year running.
"We have continued to work in partnership with Sevenoaks District Council and have been able to deliver a monthly surgery in different neighbourhoods throughout 2014.
"Many residents have used this service to get their dogs micro chipped and for advice on being a responsible dog owner.”
West Kent won bronze awards in 2008 and 2010, and a gold award in 2013. West Kent is thrilled to have been awarded gold again, and we look forward to maintaining and improving our high standards.
West Kent Housing Association was established in 1989 to accept the transfer of homes from Sevenoaks District Council.
