Appeal to trace supermarket shopper

POLICE want to talk to a shopper who was at Sainsbury’s in Otford Road, Sevenoaks, on Saturday, January 27 at 2.20pm when a sat nav system was stolen from a black Citroen in the car park.

The shopper overheard one of the store’s car park trolley staff describing the person he thought was responsible for the theft and the shopper mentioned the name of a person they thought matched the description.

PC Tony Hatcher said: "If this customer could contact us it would be very helpful to the investigation."

Anyone with information can contact police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

PC Hatcher added: "Satellite navigation systems are very popular items with thieves because they are easy targets. Our advice is that if you have a sat nav take it with you when you leave your car.

"Also be aware that if you have a sat nav bracket on your dashboard it will alert thieves to the fact that there may be a system hidden in the vehicle and criminals know all the hiding places."
