Armed police have been called following reports of an attempted robbery in Wrotham High Street.

Police confirmed they were called to the scene at around 5.35pm.

A spokesman said: "It was reported a possible weapon was seen during the incident.

"Officers, including firearms officers, attended the scene and carried out a search of the area.

"At this stage no arrests have been made and no weapons recovered.

"Officers remain at the scene, carrying out enquiries."

Witnesses said armed police were seen near the George and Dragon pub and a police helicopter has been hovering over the village.
