Police are urging motorists to make sure their vehicles are locked after two men were arrested in Sevenoaks.
District Council CCTV operators spotted two suspicious men in the Sennocke car park in the early hours of Tuesday June 17.
Police were informed and a dog handler was used to aid officers in locating the men who were arrested in Hitchen Hatch Lane on suspsicion of conspiracy to commit theft.
Both men, aged 26, are from Deptford. They have been interviewed and released on bail until Tuesday July 29 pending further investigation.
Officers are now encouraging motorists to take extra steps to deter criminals when parking in public places.
They have given a range of safety tips advising motorists to lock doors and windows when leaving the car, take valuables with you, wipe away suction marks from a sat-nav on the windscreen, make a note of the car chassis number and consider having vehicle windows etched with the registration number.
Detective chief inspector Neil Parker said: "This was good work by CCTV operators, who assisted us with making these arrests.
"We are making life difficult for suspected thieves and hopefully motorists can do the same by taking simple measures such as removing all valuables from their vehicles before leaving them unattended and checking the vehicle is fully secure before leaving it."
Cllr Michele Lowe, Sevenoaks District Council’s Cabinet member for community aafety added: "Our CCTV system, which keeps a close eye on the district, has once again shown its worth by helping the police apprehend two suspects. This is a fantastic example of joint working."
