A Sevenoaks man has started a petition in a bid to bring a Nando's chicken restaurant to his local town centre.
Fraser Munro started the petition after discovering a local Marks and Spencer's food hall would be replaced with a Poundland.
He has now taken to website Change.org to address the council and Nando's and to gather supporters.
On his petition page Mr Munro has written: "With the new marks and Spencer's opening in Sevenoaks, the old marks and Spencer's food hall is closing.
"There has been rumours going around that this would be turned into a Nando's, but this rumour seems to have been quashed with the suggestion that Poundworld may be looking to acquire the site for themselves.
"Sevenoaks already has quite a successful and popular 99p Store which, although contested at the time, is now well liked and used, however I, and others feel that in Sevenoaks a Nando's would be better placed at that location than a similar cut price store on a vastly smaller property than the existing 99p Store.
"I hope this petition may in some way sway the decision with the council and Nando's themselves."
Francesca Lock from Sevenoaks has already signed the petition, she commented: "My fiancé loves Nando's, means we won't have to travel far to Bluewater or Maidstone, and we can use the Stag Theatre for cinema."
Mr Munro originally hoped to receive 100 signatures on the page - it has currently been signed 167 times.
Speaking to the Kent Messenger, Mr Munro said: "I mentioned maybe someone should start a petition, more as an off hand comment, then thought about it for a while and decided actually that probably isn't as silly as it sounds.
"I feel the addition of a Nando's would bring more business to existing amenities that need supporting like the Stag Theatre and cinema" - Fraser Munro...
"It has been rather amusing to have had this talked about, some of the comments have been an interesting read.
"There are some that feel Sevenoaks is being turned into a clone or cookie cutter town, which unfortunately is hard to avoid these days. But i feel that things that will benefit the town as a whole are good no matter if every other town has one.
"I believe the cost of rent for many of the units around Bligh's Meadow prices independent stores out of the market.
"Nando's is a popular restaurant, often with a wait time to get a table at the popular venues.
"I feel the addition of a Nando's would bring more business to existing amenities that need supporting like the Stag Theatre and cinema."
