Sevenoaks District Council has joined a social media website which enables neighbours in the area to share knowledge easily.
It has joined Streetlife, described as the "online equivalent of chatting over the garden fence" and it allows user messages to reach all other local people, keeping conversations relevant to the community.
Sevenoaks District Council has joined social media website Streetlife. Described as 'the online equivalent of chatting over the garden fence,' Streetlife provides an easy way for neighbours to share practical knowledge.
More than 2,200 people from the district have already signed up and now the council has joined them.
Streetlife neighbourhoods across the country have seen how the site can be used to strengthen the local community.
Residents have come together to organise litter picks, catch doorstep scammers and care for vulnerable neighbours.
Cllr Peter Fleming, leader of the council, says: "Steetlife is a really exciting prospect giving us even more opportunities to converse with our communities.
"On Streetlife residents can meet up, chat, ask questions, get help and advice and now they can talk to us. All they need is an internet connection at home or on their phone to take part.
"Having strong links with your neighbours and community is more vital than ever. Especially as sometimes the help we need is, literally, around the corner."
