Motorists suffered delays of at least 20 minutes after a lamppost fell onto the carriageway of the M25.

Two lanes were closed and traffic was stop-start on the clockwise carriageway after J5 for the M26 and A21.

Congestion was trailing back on the M25 to J4 for the A21 at Orpington and on the M26 to the A225 underpass.

The lanes were closed while workmen remove the lamppost.
