Police have arrested 18 suspected illegal immigrants who jumped out of a lorry on the M25 this morning.
Surrey Police's road unit, a helicopter and a force dog were sent to the clockwise carriageway, near Clacket Lane, just after 9am.
Members of the public witnessed more than a dozen people being released from a lorry parked on the side of the motorway near Westerham.
The group made off from the scene but were later detained on suspicion of illegal entry into the UK.
The driver of the lorry was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of immigration offences.
The investigation will be passed to UK Visas and Immigration in due course.
Joe Barlow witnessed the scene unfold on the motorway. He tweeted: "Stuck in traffic on the M25, doors of the lorry in front fly open, 15 geezers jump out and scatter into the fields... Nice one."
