A motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident involving up to eight cars on the M25 yesterday evening.
Three lanes of the anti-clockwise carriageway between junction 7 for the M23 and junction 6 for Godstone were closed.
Emergency services were called just after 5pm following reports of a multi-vehicle collision near Clackett Lane.
Surrey Roads Police tweeted that a motorcyclist has been seriously injured.
South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and a spokesman confirmed a motorcyclist was treated on scene for shoulder and pelvic injuries. He was also showing signs of concussion.
Paramedics took him by road to St George's Hospital in London.
Officers also asked people to not drive in lanes with a red 'X' overhead as vehicles in those lanes were slowing down the arrival of emergency services.
Tailbacks reached junction 9 for Leatherhead.
