An elderly victim's condition is said to have improved after burglars poured boiling water over her.
The incident happened in April at a house in London Road, Halstead.
An elderly man was forced to watch as thieves poured scalding water over his wife.
The woman suffered severe burns, which caused organ failure.
She was taken into intensive care and given skin grafts.
A court heard in June that the lady's skin was unable to retain moisture, which was causing her kidneys and other internal organs to fail.
Good news came this week when it was revealed the woman had been moved out of intensive care, but was still in a serious condition in hospital.
This news comes as Kent Police continue to hunt Drew Morris, a man they want to question in relation to the burglary.
He has never been arrested for this offence.
Two others have been charged with two counts of false imprisonment, causing grievous bodily harm, and aggravated burglary.
Kacey Adams, 33, from Ilford, and Daniel Wallace, 32, of no fixed address, were charged on Monday, August 15.
Both men remain in police custody, pending future court dates.
Anyone with any information about Drew Morris is asked to call police on 999 or 101.
