Double Olympic skeleton champion Lizzy Yarnold will tour Sevenoaks in an open top bus to celebrate her successful title defence.
Lizzy, who grew up in West Kingsdown in the Sevenoaks district, became the first British athlete ever to successfully defend her Winter Olympic title when she took gold at the Korean Winter Games in Pyeong Chang in February, four years after taking the title at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in 2014.
To mark the record breaking achievement, Sevenoaks Council is organising an open-top bus tour, which is set to take place on Wednesday, April 18.
The council itself will have cause to celebrate Lizzy's achievement, having awarded her a grant to help her transition to the skeleton in 2011, and provided further funding for her Olympic campaigns.
"It still hasn’t really sunk in that I am now a Double Olympic Champion!" said Lizzy. "The last four years has been tough and at times I wasn’t sure if I would be able to defend my title, but it just shows you if you dream big and work hard then who knows what you can achieve.
"Thanks to everyone in the Sevenoaks district for all their support, it really means a lot to know you are cheering me on back home.
"I can’t wait to come and visit and show as many young people as possible my two Olympic Gold Medals - dreams can come true!"
The timings and stop-offs on the bus tour will be announced nearer the time.
