The M25 was closed this evening after reports of a horse running loose in the road.

The animal is believed to have escaped between junctions 3 and 4.

Drivers reported delays near Sevenoaks, and Highways England has asked motorists to stay in their vehicles.

Police and highways officers tried to capture the horse, and the road was re-opened at about 6pm.

There are long delays stretching back to junction 5.
