DETECTIVES investigating a robbery at a Kent bank are exploring the possibility that the man responsible is a golfer.
This line of inquiry has developed following detailed examination of CCTV from the bank that shows the man is wearing a golfing glove on his left hand.
The robbery happened at the Woolwich Bank, High Street, Sevenoaks, at about 4.40pm on Wednesday, October 25. The raider was armed with a handgun and ordered staff to hand over cash.
Police are convinced it is the second time the man has carried out a robbery in the Woolwich in Sevenoaks. Officers believe he is the same man who robbed the bank in July 2006.
Det Insp Jon Clayden said: "It‘s not unusual for criminals to wear gloves to avoid leaving any forensic traces but how many would have golf gloves and how many would go back and rob the same place twice?
"This man was wearing one glove on his left hand, is he a right-handed golfer?"
During the incident the man went into the bank and taking a small black handgun from the waistband of his jeans he threatened staff and demanded they give him money.
The man is described as: white, approximately 5ft 8ins, 40 – 50 years old, medium build and clean shaven. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, beige jacket and light blue jeans.
