One of the UK's busiest motorways was blocked clockwise - for a lorry driver to change a tyre.

Traffic built up after the lorry broke down just before J5 for the M26 and A21 at 3.10pm

Sources say the lorry needed a tyre changed, and a diversion was put in place via the A21 junction with the A25.

The carriageway re-opened by 3.50pm, and traffic is now back to normal.
