A man was arrested after a dramatic 29-mile police chase along two motorways.
The chase began when a vehicle failed to stop for officers on the M23 outside Crawley and ended in Kent.
Officers from Surrey and Sussex Police’s Roads Policing Unit monitored the vehicle on the M25 as it travelled towards Kent assisted by the National Police Air Service helicopter.
They were joined by officers from Kent Police Road Policing Unit.
Finally the suspect vehicle was in a collision with a Sussex Police vehicle, which the force said was due to a manoeuvre by the driver rather than any deliberate attempt by police to bring the chase to an end.
The collision happened near Junction 4 (Orpington) of the M25 in the early hours of Sunday.
A passenger from the suspect vehicle was initially detained on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, but was later released.
The 27-year-old driver, a man from Lewisham, was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries sustained in the crash.
On his discharge, he was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, vehicle licence or registration fraud, drug-driving, driving without valid insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He has been release pending further inquiries.
The collision on Sunday temporarily blocked the M25 anti-clockwise between Junctions 4 and 5 (the M26 turn-off) .
The motorway was not re-opened until 6.30am.
