A suspected burglar has been charged in connection with the theft of high-value items and a car.
A house in Kippington Road, Sevenoaks, was alleged to have had three paintings, jewellery, and some ornaments stolen between January 3 and 4.
The keys to a Saab were also taken and the car was taken from the driveway.
The victims had also said a fire was lit in one of the rooms which, after burning out, left scorch marks on the wall.
Following the break-in a media appeal was issued and yesterday (January 17) police arrested two people.
Adrian Wanarski, 34, of Blacks Yard, Sevenoaks was charged with burglary. He was remanded to a hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court today (January18).
A 34-year-old woman who was also arrested was bailed, pending further inquiries, to return to a police station on April 10.
Images of two of the stolen paintings – one a portrait of a woman and the other a seascape – were released in the hope of tracking them down.
The investigation has led to the recovery of some of the stolen property but the paintings remain unfound.
Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact them.
They also urging anyone who may have been offered items such as those described as stolen to get in touch.
